This interactive and stimulating half-day training will introduce new and experienced clinical and non-clinical workers to the H.O.A.R.D.I.N.G.© Model, assisting them in better understanding hoarding behaviours, screening and assessing for the presence of these behaviours, undertaking evidence-based risk assessments, and applying appropriate risk management strategies. Participants will learn to develop realistic, achievable, and successful interventions, including skills for respectful decluttering, managing emotional dysregulation, setting SMART goals, and using Motivational Interviewing techniques to reduce resistance and ambivalence to behaviour change. Comprehensive resources will be provided, along with the opportunity to problem-solve challenging presentations in practice. The H.O.A.R.D.I.N.G. Model, developed by Monica through extensive practice experience and research, offers a unique, comprehensive, and easy-to-remember self-reflective framework for workers to approach interventions where hoarding behaviours are present.
