STARS volunteers have the following credentials:
- Experience in aged care services, which can include residential, independent living, and home care. It can be experience gained from paid work, volunteering, or older person advocacy work.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and compassionate understanding of an older person’s perspective.
- Well-organised and effective time management capabilities.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Empathy and patience when assisting older people.
